Around my house there are quite a few butcher birds
and it is not hard to see how they got their name; they are real
butchers! Several times in the summer I have had to rush out when
blood curdling cries for help from our frog friends filled the
house, and I saved several white lipped tree frogs, but unfortunately
I was not around the morning the butcher bird wiped out the sunbird
nest and took the babies.
They have also been known to knock animals like the big white
tail rats and snakes out of trees in the hope that the fall might
make them defenseless and easy to eat.
And they had a go at two mating treesnakes on the ground next
to the house too.
