Nudist accommodation and beaches
Australia's first nude beach was officially opened in
1975 by Don Dunstan, South Australia's premier at the time, saying
that "unless people were hurting others in the community,
they should be able to be individuals and do their own thing".
Since then nude sunbathing has become legal in all of Australia
except for Queensland, which is unfortunate as it is known as
the Sunshine State and has the perfect weather and pristine beaches
for nude sunbathing, but even in this conservative state there
are still unofficial nude bathing areas where local authorities
will condone nude sunbathing.

Queensland nudist beaches
As explained above, nude sunbathing is officiall ilegal
in Queensland, which is unfortunate as it is known as the Sunshine
State and has the perfect weather and pristine beaches for nude
sunbathing. But even in this conservative state there are still
unofficial nude bathing areas where local authorities will condone
nude sunbathing.
Here are some beaches where you can usually get away with nude sunbathing:
Alexandria Bay in the Noosa National Park - They
also hold a Nude Olympics each March.
Nudey Beach on Fitzroy Island near Cairns - Located
on the southwest side of the island, take the Fitzroy Island ferry
from Cairns and when you arrive at the island, there is a 1.8-kilometer
walk through dense rainforest to reach the beach which will take
15-20 minutes.
Cape Tribulation in the Daintree
- No official nude beaches here but there are miles and miles of
deserted pristine beaches where you are unlikely to see other people,
let alone police as this place is a 1.5 hour drive from the nearest
police station.
